memoirs of a geisha
i just started reading yesterday this masterpiece by arthur golden. with just a few pages, i already love this book! it's brimming with imagery, innocence (well bata pa kasi yung main character eh), and wit; not to mention, emotion.
i loved the adaptation of the book of the same title that starred zhang ziyi, although those who read the book claimed that the movie lacked the lustre that the book had. i have to say though that the movie, nevertheless, showed beautiful sceneries of japan. but i presume they're right. parati naman talagang mas maganda ang libro kesa sa film adaptation.
after the movie, i'd been brewing a story of my own. in fact i started it but i never could finish it in one sitting even if i wanted it to be a very very short story. well, maybe after reading the book, i can finish it na. so watch for it! one note of caution, though, the story i'm creating is no way similar to the book. sobrang way way layo! hehehe. it may even be a cheap and tacky alteration of the title! hehehe. watch out for it na lang pa rin! :p

I just finished this novel last week. And I am glad to say that I liked it from the first pages until the very end. I haven't watched the movie though, maybe it's not needed...
Anyway, I am quite sure that you, Emman, will love that book too and I hope you get inspired by it for your own memoirs you will write down sometime (for us...hehe)
